BURBERRY --WESER EM STALLION BY BODYGUARD

Burberry made history in 2009 as the first U.S. bred Weser-Ems pony to be licensed as a breeding stallion. He was described by the inspectors as "something special". We fully expect this charming, young stallion to continue making history. Although standing only 14hh, there is nothing small about Burberry's presence. He combines charisma with a fabulous work ethic, great trainability, and a friendly spirit. Burberry demonstrates great promise as a performance pony and a sire. As one of the smallest GRP sires available to the U.S. breeder, he will be an ideal cross for many large ponies and small warmblood mares to achieve the ideal end mass pony or small horse. His pedigree brings proven German bloodlines to U.S. breeders. Burberry descends from several generations of ponies making his potency for pony size more predictable.

Burberry's conformation is very correct. He has a beautiful, chiseled head with a large expressive eye. His build is uphill and his neck, shoulder, and saddle position is harmonious. His legs are clean and straight and he has tremendous power from his hind end combined with freedom of his shoulder. His pleasing black color is the icing on the cake.

• Performance

Burberry's first show was the USDF Sport-horse show hosted by the Sunshine Sporthorse Association in September, 2009. He was first in his 3 year old Colt-Gelding Class and Reserve Champion of the Young Horses. He also had top scores in the mid-seventies in the 3 year old Material and the SSHA Championship. When he competed in the Region 3 SE Championship he was awarded high score pony, earned the second highest scores of all horses and ponies in the material classes and was third in the colts/geldings finals. This was his first time attending a show! Burberry will be starting his dressage show career this winter.

• Bloodlines

Bred in the US, Burberry's sire and dam were both imported from Germany and bring together two of the great dynasties in Weser-Ems breeding: Black Boy and Constantin. Burberry's sire, Bodyguard, is a Black Boy son. Black Boy is by the warmblood sire Black Grannus, himself son of the legendary stallion Grannus. Black Boy's dam is the Elite section B Welsh pony mare Jadine, by Heros. Jadine's pedigree contains some of the best lines in Welsh breeding including Coed Coch, Cusop, Pendock, Gredington, and Downland. Bodyguard's dam Ronja K is by the stallion Victoria's Chirac. Victoria's Chirac is one of the oldest and most successful stallion sons of Constantin, the foundation Welsh B stallion in German Riding Pony breeding. Victoria's Chirac is out of the Oldenburg mare, Furiana (Luciano) who was bred by Fritz Lehmann of Nordenham, Germany. He was a fantastic type and was exceptionally successful. He earned a remarkable score of 143.1 at his stallion licensing test in Münster-Handorf in 1993 which followed an earlier title of Reserve National Champion of the 3 year old stallions in 1991 under rider Friederke Döpke. They then went on to win the Reserve National Champion title for the 6 year old dressage ponies in 1994. For his success in sport as well as the achievements of his offspring he was named the Champion Stallion of the Weser-Ems Stallion Show.

As of 2005 Victoria's Chirac's offspring had won 26,149 Euro. Belonging to his most successful sons is the stallion, Cyrano who was the 2001 European Championships individual gold medalist under rider Julia Krajewski, and a team gold medalist under rider Christina Krajewski in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain. In 2002 he was the individual silver medalist and won team Gold at the European Championships in Hagen, Germany again under rider Julia Krajewski. With Julia he also won the eventing CIC* in Emmersweiler before Felix Vogg took him over and competed him in this sport. Viktoria's Chirac's daughter, Jana, was the 2005 Reserve National Champion for the older mares in Warendorf. In addition of Bodyguard, Viktoria's Chirac is also the dam sire to Rembrandt (Racket).

Ronja K's dam is Elite mare Rosepark Prelude. She is also the dam of Black Bianco K and Basalt K, who both got placed at the Bundeschampionships. Basalt K won the silver medal at the European Championships with the Dutch dressage team. Rosepark Prelude is also the dam of the state-premium mares Roxana K, Raffaela K and Rosenna K, as well as of the licensed stallion Bon Jovi, who was sold to the US over the Vechta elite auction.

Burberry's dam, Conda, was a finalist in jumping in the Bundeschamopiate before being imported. She is by the stallion Chamberlain, who's sire Condor I is another influential Constantin son.
